It seems that Samsung is planning to enter a new wearable segment. First reported on the South Korean Naver forum, industry insiders allege that Samsung has been developing a smart ring that could offer a lot of the features that the Galaxy Watch5 series delivers, such as tracking health metrics and monitoring activities like exercising, walking, and sleeping.
Currently, Samsung is expected to be still in the early stages of development. Hence, the device is not anticipated for release anytime soon and definitely not next year. Theoretically, the so-called ‘Galaxy Ring’ would be more durable than a smartwatch while also delivering superior battery life. For example, the Oura Ring 3 lasts up to 7 days between charges and has a titanium exterior. Prices start at US$299 for the Oura Ring 3 though, so we would not rule out Samsung’s equivalent being almost as expensive as its smartwatches.
